Shari Murphy is an educator, professional developer for educators, and a personal development junkie. Shari talks about the moment she chose to look within and how that impacted her life.
The turning point for Shari was that things in her life weren’t changing. People in her life weren’t getting any better.
So what did she do? She started looking within.
First step to look within:
Notice. Notice your patterns and notice and pay attention to the feedback you’ve gotten over the years. Even the feedback you don’t like to hear.
Be honest with yourself and identify what is within your control and what is not within my control.
Benefit of Looking Within:
Days are filled with much joy. Life is brighter. Happy is right here right now.
How to deal with negative chatter in your head:
“We need to stop listening to ourself, and start talking to ourselves.” Pause the negative chatter, start talking to yourself of what you want to step into.
Reframes could sound like:
“I can't do this. This Is overwhelming.” New thinking New thing I can do hard things.
“I’m not as smart as my sisters” You are very knowledgeable
I can’t write a book. I can do whatever I want to do.
Quotes that inspire Shari:
“For things to change, I must change.”
"If you worry about what other people think of you, you give their opinion more value than you give your own."
